Iron Bay at The Westin Yokohama: A Romantic Dinner Review

Iron Bay at The Westin Yokohama turns dinner into a full date-night experience: dramatic Minato Mirai views, polished service and seasonal ingredients cooked over wood fire. Our dinner for two cost ¥41,900 in total (about US$263), and the combination of food, atmosphere and skyline made it feel ideal for a romantic evening in Yokohama.

A Romantic Restaurant Above Minato Mirai

The room feels elegant without becoming formal or uncomfortable. Dark tones, warm wood, Japanese-inspired details and floor-to-ceiling windows create a sophisticated setting. Tables are spaced well enough for private conversation, while the city lights provide a natural backdrop. For couples celebrating a birthday, anniversary or simply planning a memorable date, the evening setting is the strongest reason to choose Iron Bay.

Service was attentive and well paced throughout our visit. The atmosphere is luxurious, yet relaxed enough to focus on the person across the table. That balance makes Iron Bay especially well suited to dating.

The Wood-Fire Dinner Experience

Iron Bay is The Westin Yokohama’s signature grill, centered on seasonal meat, seafood and vegetables prepared with wood fire. Our menu moved through delicately presented seafood, warm bread, vegetables, fish, lobster and a deeply caramelized meat course. Menus change seasonally, so these photographs show our personal dinner rather than a guaranteed current course.

The early courses were refined and restrained. A scallop presentation had a silky texture and a lively balance of richness and acidity. The glossy seeded bread was warm and satisfying, while the seasonal vegetable course showed the kitchen’s lighter side.

The seafood courses expressed the restaurant’s style most clearly. The grilled lobster offered natural sweetness and a gentle smoky edge. The wood-fire meat course brought the deepest roasted flavor of the night, with a charred exterior and tender center. Its sauce amplified the smokiness without overwhelming the meat.

Price and Value

Our final bill was ¥41,900 for two people, or about ¥20,950 per person. At the exchange rate used for this article, the total was approximately US$263 for two. Your cost will vary according to the current menu, drinks, supplements and exchange rate.

This is a special-occasion restaurant, not a casual dinner. Still, the high-floor view, careful service, paced courses and refined hotel setting create a complete evening. For couples who value atmosphere as much as the menu, the price is easier to understand.

My Verdict

Iron Bay at The Westin Yokohama is an excellent romantic dinner choice in Minato Mirai. The room is striking, the night view adds a sense of occasion, and the wood-fire menu moves confidently between seafood and meat. I recommend making an evening reservation and requesting a window seat, while remembering that seating requests depend on availability.
