Kamakura & Enoshima Dining Guide: Garden Lunches and Coastal Views
Kamakura and Enoshima offer two ways to plan a food-focused coastal outing: a garden lunch and cultural walk in Kamakura, or a sea-view meal in Enoshima. They are grouped in one regional guide here, with each restaurant’s actual location and access kept clear. Choose the outing that suits your day rather than trying to fit every stop into one route.
Kamakura: Ara Tama’s garden-side steak lunch
Ara Tama is the main restaurant review to read before planning lunch. The meal combines table-cooked steak with sashimi, rice, soup and seasonal sides, while the Japanese garden gives the dining room a calm setting. The review covers my course, the price at the time of the visit and the restaurant information.
Allow the meal its own place in the day rather than fitting it between too many sights. For the order, photographs and booking link, read the complete Ara Tama review →
Add coffee, shrine culture and dinner
My Kamakura day itinerary continues from lunch to Verve Coffee Roasters in Yukinoshita, Tsurugaoka Hachimangu, the museum and café, a Thai massage and Turkish dinner at EGE near the station. It includes a route and practical cards for each stop.
- Use the full itinerary for a leisurely day from late morning into the evening.
- For a shorter visit, choose Ara Tama, coffee and the shrine area.
- Treat the peony garden as a seasonal addition; check its opening and the museum schedule before making them essential stops.
Enoshima: Coastal views at Island Grill
Island Grill at Enoshima Island Spa is the coastal restaurant option in this regional collection. Read the review for the seafood-focused meal, sea view and spa setting. Enoshima and central Kamakura are distinct places, so you can choose one for a relaxed outing or allow transfer time and adjust the rest of your plans if combining them.
Keep room for a walk
Komachi-dori and the streets around Yukinoshita provide a natural link between the station, lunch and the shrine. Leave time between reservations so you can stop when something catches your attention. The itinerary explains the route without requiring a separate restaurant booking at every stage.
Choose your regional outing
Choose central Kamakura for a garden lunch and cultural walk, or Enoshima for a coastal meal and spa setting. For a different city outing with bay views and hotel restaurants, compare my Yokohama versus Kamakura guide.
